Do Car Subscriptions Have Hidden Fees?

While every company will have their own pricing structure and agreements, what sets car subscriptions apart is their no-nonsense approach to getting you behind the wheel. Aside from your monthly subscription cost and add ons (such as additional mileage) you should expect to pay some sort of deposit and/or first time fee. Make sure to ask questions before you sign your agreement and enjoy a flexible new way to drive.

Do Car Subscriptions Have Hidden Fees?

One of the biggest perks of choosing a car subscription service is that it gives you access to a vehicle without having to put down a large initial payment or make a long-term financial commitment. Most subscriptions include all of the costs involved in owning a vehicle, like registration fees, maintenance and insurance (unlike a lease), all rolled into one simple monthly payment, and have the freedom to start and stop your service as needed.

Every automaker and third party service will have their own terms and conditions, but you’ll likely see some of the following perks offered.

  • No Down Payment or Hidden Fees you may however have an activation fee and/or some sort of deposit, but subscription services in general are very upfront about their costs and do not have hidden fees.

  • Low Credit Scores Accepted especially when compared to car leasing or rental services. Many providers don’t even require a credit check and are truly interested in getting cars into the hands of people who need them.

  • Free Delivery often if you subscribe from the city where the vehicle is located, the car will be delivered to your house, and picked up at the end of your service agreement.

  • All-Inclusive Monthly Fee most vehicle subscription plans auto-renew every month at the same price which includes maintenance and insurance (you only need to pay for fuel).

  • Joint Subscriptions you may have the option to split your monthly payment and share your subscription car with a partner or roommate.

  • Ability to Swap Cars while some companies only offer or allow you to subscribe to one type of car, others make it easy for you to switch to an all-wheel-drive SUV in the winter and then back to a more economical summer commuter if you wish.

As with any contract, make sure to ask lots of questions if you’re unsure and read all of the fine print before signing or agreeing to any sort of contract. Most subscription companies allow you to sign up online or via an app with just a few clicks or swipes and have customer service reps available to answer questions.

Can I Have Multiple Car Subscriptions?

Maybe you want to get behind the wheel of a luxury vehicle or drive an SUV for a camping trip or to be prepared for winter weather. The beauty of car subscription services is that they are flexible and some even offer you the ability to exchange cars throughout your agreement. Certain companies offer different types of cars you can choose and swap between, but if they don’t offer that option, then it is possible to have multiple vehicle subscriptions should the need arise.

Car subscription services have so many benefits, from the flexibility of driving different vehicles, to the convenient all-inclusive monthly payment. The ability to cancel anytime is also a major plus. Vehicle subscriptions allow you to get behind the wheel on your terms.
